As I had a head start on playing the title (and absolutely loved it), I’m here to relay eight tips and tricks that’ll make your playthrough that much more fun. They, like in Robots Rescue and Astro Bot Rescue Mission, are scattered across the game’s levels and have to be rescued by their captain. In the story of the game, the Alien returns (now named Space Bully Nebulax), and scatters the Bots across the galaxy by stealing their ship’s CPU, causing the ship to break down and eject the Bots from it. Over the course of the game, Astro rescues many Bots and Special Bots while finding the parts of the Mothership that had also gone missing. Eventually, after returning to the Crash Site with his crew, Astro is visited by Space Bully Nebulax, who taunts him, and Astro gives chase with his crew who use PlayStation hardware as vehicles, forming the PlaySquadron.

During this epic adventure Astro will reunite with over 150 iconic heroes from PlayStation history, helping to kick off celebrations for the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. That includes the Lovestruck Lyricist, an homage to PaRappa the Rapper, the Yharnam Hunter, an homage to Bloodborne, and many more. It was a long night, but the 2024 The Game Awards ceremony is finally over. This year was an amazing one, and while the big 6 games of this event were impressive, only one had the opportunity to walk away with the biggest recognition of the night. Astro Bot from TeamASOBI took the most important round of applause of the night, and with the most precious award of the event, the Game of the Year.
Nicolas Doucet was asked by MinnMax what he wants to say to PC players who are eager to play the modern PlayStation mascot’s games on their platform. Just walking around generates a gentle rumble, which increases as you use your jet boots or attack enemies. Different surfaces rumble differently, with the excellent audio design matching them perfectly. It’s not just movement though, as the creak of Aloy’s bow and arrow, while aiming in the Horizon level, is insanely satisfying and much better than in the actual game it’s based on. If we don’t know then we’re sure more casual gamers are going to be even more lost, especially as so many of them look like generic anime characters. Bafflingly though, none of the characters are ever named – not the first party Sony ones or the third party ones.
I’m indebted to you for pulling me back into the world of platformers. Thus, naturally, RPG fans would’ve settled with any of these games clinching the GOTY. However, to everyone’s surprise, our adorable and bouncy bot jumped all the way up and cleared those hardcore RPG game’s levels to grab the “Game of the Year” award at The Game Awards 2024 hosted by Geoff Keighley.
You might have noticed that a, yet unreleased, level of Astro Bot was featured at the PlayStation XP Tournament Final in London, England on January 18. That very level, along with 4 additional ones will be coming your way inside the brand-new Vicious Void Galaxy, starting today. @Yousef- I never said it was for “helpless people who already can’t beat the game”. It’s fine as a resource, but I don’t think it makes “all the sense in the world” to have it ready on day one.
Although we can’t match every price reported, we’ll use your feedback to ensure that our prices remain competitive. Find out about Astro’s origins and learn how to draw your favorite bot from the playful hands of team Asobi artists. ASTRO BOT is developed by Team ASOBI, part of PlayStation Studios.
This walkthrough shows all collectibles in each level for 100% game completion and all trophies. The biggest evolution of the cameo characters, however, is that four of them will actually lend you their weapons, which Astro needs to use in stages specifically designed for each one. While it may seem simple enough, there are a lot of things to do in the over fifty levels Astro Bot has to offer. Check every corner, hit every object or look below every platform and you may find a secret cord or passageway to a Puzzle Piece, Bot or even a Vortex to a secret world! Astro Bot is the most recent entry in the Astro Bot series and was released in 2024 for the PlayStation 5 in celebration of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. Master Onion is the secret 301st bot, the last one you’ll unlock in the game.
Instead, this is done with the joystick, suggesting Team Asobi found it best to keep players’ hands off the somewhat clunky touchpad this time around. In another that sees Astro shrink to the size of a mouse, the miniature world reveals new woodsy and backyard-like scenery that regular-sized Astro couldn’t reach. Some levels even drastically change the art style, as seen in a series of voxel-art levels I was glad to discover each time, or some others I dare not spoil. Team Asobi has teased that tools will eventually be added to Astro Bot that should appeal to speedrunners. With that tool and a bit of post-launch content updates, Astro Bot’s fun could last a lot longer than it does, and that would be a welcome inclusion for a game with a short run time.
Instead, Ratchet, for example, is referred to merely as Tooled-Up Mechanic and Jill Valentine simply as Alpha Female. There’s also a character called Pro Skater, which we assume is Tony Hawk, but perhaps it’s one of Sony’s forgotten extreme sports games – it’s impossible to tell. However, two of these levels are based on dormant Sony franchises and if you can avoid having it spoiled for you what they are beforehand, they’re amongst the highlights of the game. They both replicate the mechanics, and audio, of the original games exactly and are an absolute joy, that will instantly have you wishing that they’d get full-blown sequels on the PlayStation 5. Since what you’re actually after is the stolen pieces of the PlayStation 5 there’s always an extra level after each of the main bosses that is inspired by a first party Sony game.
It’s a wonderful touch; for one level, a near-forgotten series is brought back to glorious life in a modern context, and Team Asobi honors the memory of the ceaselessly inventive studio it used to call home. If you have read my Astro Bot review, you must be already aware of how this game is an elated love letter and a rich celebration of Play Station’s legacy. This videogame has the outright power and quality to challenge your perception of platformer games and it will make you say it duly earned the GOTY 2024 once you take Astro Bot for a spin.
What are you going to play a adult copy and paste game part whatever. I’d say your only potential hurdle is some of the challenges, as they can be quite tough, but broadly speaking the game is on the easy side. @RubyCarbuncle Oh I don’t doubt there’s an audience for VR, I just don’t see Sony alloting much time or resources to it for their new golden child (Asobi) with this sort of success on the vanilla console under their belts. I never thought i see the day push square giving a ps game a 10 score .. Digital Foundry just dropped their Astrobot video, I haven’t had a chance to watch yet but I think the title says it all.
I giggled like a toddler using it to defeat a special enemy by literally sucking its green, goopy brains out. The different levels Astro explores have themes that you’d expect. There’s a jungle planet, a volcano planet, and worlds of pirates, ghosts, and gardeners.
